London & Paris Trip'07
I really liked London and really had a good time over there. It has been a blessed trip and have met some very nice people. On these trips I have the opportunity to be exposed and had gained confidence in my communication with people. The weather was nice and even though it was considered summer, it wasn’t at all hot. In fact, it was raining. I simply hated the rain over there as when it rains, it just simply appeared and stop in a sudden. The wind was blowing so strongly, Jared’s favorite umbrella went inverted.
The hotel (Berjaya Eden Park, London) that we were staying in was so tiny, the room and especially the bathroom appeared to be almost almost cupboard-like. But it was situated strategically and conveniently close to 2 underground (aka subway aka tube aka LRT), namely Queensway and Bayswater.
There were lots of shops in the area, your friendly neighbourhood souvenior shops, M & S, even 2 Tesco Metros, a shopping complex-Whiteley, loads of Chinese, Indian, Greek restaurants and heaps of other asian eateries. Can’t seem to finish the introduction bit over here. But I will be penning out my journal in London for all to see what was in my d
aily schedule while I was there and the many places of my visits.
I really enjoyed bumming around the park over there, reading, watching cute doggies playing n running
around. Hyde Park was almost literally a stone’s throw from the hotel we were staying, so for obvious reasons, we were there often, sometimes spending our time there, having our b’fast, a couple
of buns, a steaming hot cup of 99 pence coffee and hot chocolate, siting there n eating.
I love the markets over there, my favourite being Portobello market, selling truckloads of antiques, wedgewood pieces, and house decor. It’s a pity we couldnt bring back more stuff cuz is too fragile.
Jared found heaps of sellers dealing with antique cameras, bringing home 3 with him.
Couple more of my fave spots had to be Charing Cross Road, just shops and shops offering nothing but books, and of course,a few favorite ‘Mills and Boon’ titles which were banned in Malaysia followed me home, though expensive it may be compared to M’sia.
Another thing which is a ‘must-not-miss’ in London are their endless shows and musicals on Broadway, expensive as they were, but you just have to
experience it. In fact we watch both the classic ‘Les Miserable’ and the newly introduced ‘Wicked’, a prequel to the Wizard of Oz.. I truly enjoyed Wicked more, Les Miserable is classic and that you will probably not get to watch in M’sia or even S’pore. As for ‘Wicked’ it’s new and the storyline was simply brilliant. Love it!
I did have a chance to stumble onto the Harry Potter Premier in London, by coincidence that is, that we were headed towards Chinatown for some cup noodle and as I pass by Leicester Square, screaming masses were about.
I ran n see… omg!! It’s THE Harry Potter Premier. It was so crowded that I asked Jared to get his camera ready, taking some pics while waiting … sooo long for the ‘Harry’ and ‘Hermoine’ but sadly before I got there, they already left. Actually the exact location is
in Leicester Square Odeon Cinema’s side, n I was on the other end, not many celebrities walk on our side. By that time I ran to the Odeon it was too late. All the celebrities had already taken their seats inside Odeon.
Actually,I got to go for this trip because someone liked Jared’s
work. The wedding venue was so nice,
being my 1st time attending and English wedding. It is just like what we always see in the movies, nice garden wedding and all. The venue is ‘The
Fennes’, and the London.
Ok, I’ll try to finish my London trip journal soon so that I can post it out in my new xanga blog. Ops…I’m still not that familiar with the website yet actually :p but no worries. I’m a fast learner I’m sure I will have no problems figuring it out. Anyone of u can recommend any good website for bloging??
